Comal is a 2300-square-foot residence nestled on a corner lot in East Austin. This endeavor capitalized on the urban lot exemption tailored for smaller lots in downtown Austin's urban areas. The primary objectives were to capture views of both the Capitol and downtown Austin. The exterior design involves stacking boxes in a cubist manner, forming a sculptural composition that leans towards being an "object" rather than merely a space. The rooftop terrace serves as an observatory, offering panoramic views of the surroundings both near and far.
